Phil Elson

On the first Saturday of October, Phil treated us to a visual display that traces his connection to clay from the late 1970s and early 80s through to his training at Caulfield Institute and his later studio training. He talked about setting up his studio in Trentham and the subsequent relocation of his studio and arts practice to Castlemaine. We heard about his influences from around the world. Phil completed the session with a demonstration of his skill in throwing porcelain on the wheel. He made a number of pieces, illustrating the particular techniques associated with using this beautiful clay. Altogether fun, informative and engaging!
