Mud Member Membership entitles you to:

  • Join The Castlemaine Clay Community

  • Discounts and First Invites to Talks & Special Events

  • Members-Only Invitations and Exhibition Invitations

  • Invited to the AGM

  • Apply to be Castlemaine Clay Volunteer

  • Unique members-only ceramic opportunities

  • 14 hours Studio Access + Equipment per month

  • Once Complimentary Time has been used Studio Access + Equipment ($10 per hour)

  • Use of Communal Storage for Work In Progress

  • Personalised Locker for Storage of Tools etc.

  • Access to Firing by Expert Technician

  • Access to Mentorship

  • Run workshops, members gatherings and ceramic projects in the space (pending an Expression of Interest process)

    *Please note memberships are only available to people over 18 years of age

By becoming a Mud Member of Castlemaine Clay, you are agreeing to the following Terms and Conditions for the duration of your membership:

  • First invites

    • We will invite our members first to all our workshops, our talks and any offerings that we are giving. You shall be the first to know.

  • Induction/Supervised Sessions @$50 per session (2 hrs)

    • The induction is an introduction to the Castlemaine Clay Studio. We will take you through the safe use of all the equipment and the rules and requirements of Castlemaine Clay.

    • Supervised sessions are designed to give you competence to use the space independently, safely and to its full potential. We want to know that you can use all the equipment in a responsible and safe manner. We also want to see that you can leave it clean and set up for the next person. Allowing time to clean up after you is a part of you practice. This is a shared space and must be cared for accordingly for everyone’s enjoyment.

    • Upon becoming a member you will be sent a link to book into one of these sessions.

    • The cost of these sessions is not included in the price of the Mud Membership.

  • Studio Access - studio and equipment

    • Access to the studio is for Members only. Anyone who gives access to the studio to unauthorised persons, will automatically have their membership revoked without a refund.

    • In order to access the studio, you will need to complete an Induction/Supervised session (see above). Once this is completed you will be sent a link to our members only booking page.

    • As above, a Mud Member receives 14 hours complimentary studio access per month. (value $140 per month, $420 per quarter or $1680 per year).

    • Use of the studio beyond complimentary studio access will need to be paid for at $10 per hour.

    • Bookings will be limited to two weeks in advance, so that all members have the chance to book the studio

    • Use of communal shelves for storage of work in progress.

    • A locker - Mud Members will have a locker to keep their tools, aprons, towels, notebooks, clay etc You will need to provide a lock.

    • Access to Mentors - we have some remarkable teachers within the Castlemaine Clay community and we would love you to get to know them and their wisdom regarding all things clay - this is how we learn. There are so many ways to do things and to know about clay, it is endless :)

    • Cleaning - you must leave the studio in the same or better condition in which you found it, every time.

    There are no discounts on classes or firings

    Mud Members (MM) can apply for a refund in exceptional circumstances. The request for refund will be reviewed by the Castlemaine Clay Committee.
