Studio Access & Memberships
We are a nonprofit member-based community organisation that wants to bring the clay lovers of Castlemaine and surrounds together.
First and foremost, members will help us stay viable -we can't exist without you!
As a member, you will be entitled to access the Castlemaine Clay Studio, unique members-only opportunities, workshops, artist talks, mentoring, local firing by an experienced technician & much more - see below!
Memberships
We are a small, committed group of volunteers who are doing their best to make Castlemaine Clay come alive and stay alive. No one is being paid except our teachers for their workshops and our kiln technicians for firing, who we will pay properly for their time and expertise.
Ceramics is not a cheap business! Our costs are substantial with studio rent, insurance, electricity, gas, cleaning products and equipment maintenance.
Your membership will help to keep Castlemaine Clay open and a great space for the community.
Administration is a huge component of this organisation and as a committee we will do our best to cover this until the day we may be able to afford someone in this role. Until then our website is built accordingly, to answer as many of your questions as we can regarding Castlemaine Clay.

14 hours studio access + equipment per month*
Once complimentary time has been used studio access + equipment ($35 per 1/2 day)*
Use of communal storage for work In progress
Access to firing by expert technician
Access to mentorship
Run workshops, members gatherings and ceramic projects in the space (pending an Expression Of Interest process)
*Booked via calendar, with your own unique codes for complimentary sessions, first in best dressed!
You must complete a Studio Induction/Supervised Session ($50 fee) before booking your first studio session. A link will be sent to you when you become a member.
*Please note memberships are only available to people over 18 years of age

• 6 x Pottery Wheels (including one standing wheel) • Hand Building Tables • Slab Roller • Glazes • Pug Mill • Drying Space • Firing Service • Clay Tools Available for Throwing and Hand Building • Access to Lot19 Facilities (Toilet / Outdoor Eating Areas / Cafe / Gallery)
WHY JOIN ?
You become part of building our clay lovers’ community based on Dja Dja Wurrung Country in Central Victoria, located within the beautiful grounds of Lot 19 Art Space. We have created an extraordinary ceramics space, and members will have access to the studio by completing at least one induction/supervised session. You can then book via our members only booking system.

Inductions & Supervised Sessions
Inductions and Supervised Sessions are to acquaint you with the Castlemaine Clay Studio and all of its equipment to ensure the safe use of the space for every member.
At least one session must be completed before you will be given solo studio access.
