Chandra Paul
I'm Chandra and I'm a Clunes ceramic artist who has been working with clay for over 20 years. Coil building is my favourite ceramic process because I find it rhythmic and meditative. I'm focusing on coil built home decor products like vases and plant pots because they allow me to invite nature into my home and create calm, harmonious indoor space. I'm inspired by the Wabi Sabi way, a celebration of transience, rusticity and imperfection. I want my work to be simple, minimal, quiet and beautifully crafted.

Katie Jacobs
Katie Jacobs makes artwork inspired by obsessions with popular culture, iconography and the Australian identity. In her work, she investigates the creation of cultural, national and social identity through the broad use of narrative. Her recent work has centred around incorporating her identity as a new parent into her artistic practice, for exhibitions “Mum Voice” and “Vessels for my Homeless Rage” shown at Castlemaine’s own Corner Store Merchants.
Her passion for popular culture led her to teach and study in the land that invented it, the United States of America. A Temporary Victory, her MFA (Ceramics) thesis exhibition, investigated social rituals and sporting customs in the USA and Australia.
She has taught art in many contexts and communities including Youth Justice education, Local Council programs and at Primary, Secondary and Tertiary school levels. She is passionate about sharing her technical ceramic skills and approach to creative practice at Castlemaine Clay.
